Socially Responsible Investing Advice

Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) Advice-A Future Service

  • Fair and open labor practices (non-discrimination, safety, benefits)

  • Respect for the environment (not doing harm or proactively helping)
  • Improving rather than exploiting the corporate community (which includes the community in which a business operates as well as customers)
  • Strong corporate governance and general culture of ethics

If you care about these goals and think there is nothing you can do about it, you are wrong. A capitalist society, of which ours is the most extreme example, runs on money. People who control money have the power to control everything. The good thing is - almost everyone has money. What matters is how we spend it. It is important to make sure that we are not giving more money to those people who are already too powerful and who are using their  money to harm us and the world around us. You can make a different by investing in socially responsible investments. Socially responsible investors bring capital to those corporations that are making an effort to improve rather that exploit our world. Because these corporations are choosing a more sustainable corporate culture, they may just come out on top. It is worth a try with at least some of our money - buying from good companies and investing in them and doing the opposite with bad companies.

There is just one problem. The SRI market, until those of us who care to make a change help it grow by voting with our wallets, is rather small. Plus, since it is indeed growing at a fast pace, everyone - including greedy, unscrupulous Wall Street giants are pretending to be green or good, when they are not. It is important to know who is doing good and also who is doing well while doing good. That is why SRI advice can be helpful:

Key Benefits

  • Knowledge of what corporations are doing good for the world.
  • More importantly: knowledge of what investment vehicles allow us to do well by doing good - investing in SRI.
  • Knowledge of how to benefit from SRI while benefiting the world.
